The Queen of Hearts drawing is on hold until further notice.

There are no drawings scheduled at this time. The last Wednesday of the month is still dinner night, but the drawing will not be held.

We will post here and in the newsletter as soon as there is word on it starting back up. Questions? Call the lodge at (715) 425-9152.

---

How it worked, for when it returns

Members could earn a free ticket by attending Lodge, Chapter, and Moose Legion meetings, or purchase tickets at the lodge anytime. On drawing night a card was pulled, and if it was the Queen of Hearts, the winner took the jackpot. You had to be present to win, and the pot grew each month until someone hit it.

The lodge needs volunteer bartenders for meals and special events. Training is available online, and once you finish it the lodge reimburses you for the cost.

Are you a people person with some free time?

The lodge needs volunteer bartenders for the nights we are open for meals, and sometimes for special events. If you have ever thought about helping out but were not sure where you would fit, this is a good place to start.

---

No experience? That is fine.

Training is available online through TIPS at gettips.com. Once you complete it, the lodge will reimburse you for the cost of the training.

The Wisconsin On-Premise Alcohol Server course is a 4 hour program designed for servers at restaurants, bars and hotels, and it meets state alcohol seller and server training requirements. There is also a bundled option that adds food handler certification.

---

What it actually involves: pouring drinks, being friendly, and helping the night run smoothly. You are behind the bar with people you already know, at a place you already come to.

If you can spare an evening now and then, it makes a real difference to the members who are covering those shifts now.

Lodge 594 is collecting 20 pounds of food for the Interfaith Food Pantry of Portage County, to deliver at the state convention. Donations needed at the lodge before September 10.

Every year the Wisconsin Moose Association picks a Heart of the Community project tied to the state convention - and this year it is a food drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry of Portage County, serving the Stevens Point community that hosts us.

Our goal: 20 pounds of food from Lodge 594.

That is a genuinely achievable number. A few bags from a few members and we are there.

---

⏰ Donations needed at the lodge before September 10 📍 Moose Lodge 594, 620 N. Clark St., River Falls

---

The collection travels to Stevens Point with our members attending the WMA Annual Convention, September 10-13, so anything arriving after that misses the trip.

What to bring: non-perishable food of any kind. Canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, soup - whatever you would want on your own shelf.

Not every kind of help involves a shift in the kitchen. The lodge goes through everyday supplies faster than most people would guess, and every donated package is one the lodge does not have to buy.

If you are already at the store, here is the list:

Scott one-ply toilet paper (this brand only, please - it is what our system handles)

Bleach

Dishwasher soap

Small dessert paper plates

The group lists are printed in the newsletter, under the calendar. Have a look and check which one you are in so you know which months to expect.

An all-member Town Hall meeting is set for October 6 at 7 PM, and the lodge needs a few handy people to help finish some projects before the weather turns.

A couple of things worth your attention this fall.

---

Town Hall Meeting - Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 PM

This is an All Members meeting. There is business to discuss that affects the lodge, and I would rather have it discussed in a room with all of you in it than decided quietly.

Please come if you can. 7:00 PM at the lodge.

---

We could use a few handy people

We have a couple of projects that need finishing, inside and outside the building, before the fall weather sets in.

If you have handyman or handywoman skills and some time to give, give me a call and we will set up a work time that fits your schedule. It does not need to be a big commitment. A few people for a few hours gets most of it done.

This is the kind of thing that keeps the building in good shape without the lodge paying a contractor to do it, so every hand genuinely helps.

---

Call the lodge at (715) 425-9152 to volunteer, or catch me at the lodge.

Lodge 594 member Mike Honsinger was presented with a Quilt of Valor honoring his military service, along with a $150 lodge donation to the local QOV chapter.

There are thank-yous, and then there is something you can wrap around yourself.

Lodge 594 member Mike Honsinger was recently presented with a Quilt of Valor - handmade, and given in honor and appreciation of his service to our country.

Alongside the quilt, the lodge presented a donation check for $150 to Quilts of Valor, to purchase material for the quilts they make.

---

Quilts = Healing.

We are fortunate to have a local QOV chapter right here in our city. Their purpose is not only to support Quilts of Valor, but to get more quilts into the hands of people in our own community who have earned the honor of receiving one.

---

Know a veteran who should receive one?

If you have a veteran in your family, or a friend who served, you can submit their name for a QOV quilt. Contact Administrator Kenneye Vorwald at (715) 425-9152 to start that process.

It costs you nothing but a name - and it may mean a great deal to somebody who has never quite been thanked properly.

A message from your Senior Regent.

We are at about the halfway point of our year, and one thing has become hard to ignore: we are seeing less than half of you at our events and meetings.

Rather than assume we know why, we would like to ask.

---

The question on the table: what day of the week would work well for you to come to one monthly meeting for Chapter members? Under that idea, the Board would hold its own meeting on a Board afternoon, and there would be a single member meeting at a time that actually suits people.

Please come to the Lodge and let us know what would work. Your input is genuinely wanted here.

---

And while you are at it: if you have fresh ideas, a new member to bring in, or a fundraiser idea to help the Chapter or the Lodge, bring it to the Board in writing if you can, so it stays completely your own. If you have thoughts on how you would like to carry it out, or who you would need to help get it off the ground, let the Board know.

If the people you need are not Chapter members, invite them to join so you can have the best event ever.

---

The Chapter is your Chapter. The Board works for you.

Questions or ideas? Call the lodge at (715) 425-9152, or send us a note through the contact form.

River Falls' Moose Lodge 594 has installed its 2026-2027 leadership team. Here's who's leading the lodge this year, plus a look at the century-old service organization behind them.

Moose Lodge 594 in River Falls has a new team of officers at the helm for the 2026-2027 year, and the volunteer-run organization is inviting the community to get to know both its leaders and the mission behind them.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a family-oriented fraternal and service organization founded in 1888. Its members raise money and volunteer time for causes close to home and across the country, most notably Mooseheart Child City & School, a residential community near Chicago that cares for and educates children in need, and Moosehaven, a retirement community in Florida for older members. Locally, the Moose motto says it best: Caring for Young and Old. Bringing the St. Croix Valley Together. Celebrating Life.

Lodge 594 has been part of River Falls and the St. Croix Valley since 1944. Alongside the men's lodge, the Women of the Moose (WOTM) Chapter 1159 carries out much of the lodge's community and charitable work. Together they host brunches, fish fries, health screenings, holiday celebrations, and fundraisers throughout the year, and they open the lodge hall for community and private events.

Leading Lodge 594 in 2026-2027:

President: Jon Hill

Vice President: Donald Buchholz

Administrator: Kenneye Vorwald

Treasurer: Tom Helget

Chaplain: Duane Vorwald

Trustees (1 yr / 2 yr / 3 yr): Dawn Hill · Jake Vorwald · Dan Rude

Jr. Past President: Bob Pruss

Leading Women of the Moose Chapter 1159:

Senior Regent: Elizabeth Spittle

Secretary: Sue Coleman

Treasurer: Dawn Hill

Jr. Past Regent: Ann Reichter

"We're grateful for everyone who stepped up to serve, and we're looking forward to a great year of giving back to River Falls," the new officer team said.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a private fraternal organization, and membership is by invitation of a current member. Community members who would like to learn more about the lodge's charitable work, attend one of its public events, or inquire about renting the hall can call (715) 425-9152 or visit the lodge at 620 N. Clark St., River Falls. More information is available at riverfallsmoose.org.

From FFA safety kits to birthday cake boxes for the food pantry, Lodge 594's Heart of Community projects are making a real difference right here at home - plus a sweet new fundraiser you won't want to miss.

At Lodge 594, community service isn't a once-a-year effort - it's woven into everything we do. Here's a look at what our members are working on right now.

FFA Safety Initiative

This month's Heart of Community collection is raising funds for the FFA Safety initiative - $16 per child, and our goal is to sponsor 10 kids ($160 total). If you'd like to contribute, drop a donation at the lodge. Every dollar goes directly to supporting local youth in agriculture and safety education.

Birthday Soda Cake Kits for the Food Pantry

Chapter 1159 Sisters are assembling Birthday Soda Cake kits to donate to the local food pantry. Each kit includes a disposable cake pan, cake mix, a can of soda (no eggs or oil needed!), frosting, and birthday candles - everything needed to bake a celebration cake. Bring your completed kit to the lodge on or before the chapter meeting (3rd Tuesday of the month) and it will be delivered to the pantry on Wednesday. Recipes are available at the lodge to help pair cake mixes with soda flavors. Packs of two pans are available to purchase at the lodge for $2.

Moose Magic Cookies

Looking for a treat that gives back? Pick up a bag of Moose Magic Cookies for a $5 donation - handcrafted by Mei Mei's Cookie and Creamery. They're delicious, and every dollar supports Lodge 594's charitable mission. Ask about them at the bar!

June HOC - Celebrate River Falls Community Tent

On Saturday, June 7, Lodge 594 is hosting a tent on Main Street at Celebrate River Falls (formerly Taste of River Falls) to celebrate and showcase the Moose in our community. Member volunteers are needed to make this a fun day! See the full volunteer call-to-action post for shift details, or contact the lodge at (715) 425-9152.

This June 4, Lodge 594 celebrates 82 years of community, fellowship, and service in River Falls. Come in and help us mark the milestone.

On June 4, 1944, a group of men and women in River Falls made a commitment - to care for their neighbors, support children in need, and build something lasting together. That commitment became Lodge 594.

Eighty-two years later, we're still here. Still serving. Still showing up.

Over those eight decades, Lodge 594 has hosted thousands of meals, raised money for Mooseheart and Moosehaven, supported local youth programs, and welcomed countless new members into the fold. The faces change, the officers rotate, the menus evolve - but the heart of it stays the same.

June 4 is our founding day. Stop in at the lodge that week to celebrate. Shake a hand, share a story, and take a moment to appreciate what 82 years of community looks like.

Here's to the members who came before us, the ones here today, and the ones still to come.

None of what Lodge 594 does would be possible without the members who show up. A thank-you to our volunteers - and a reminder to check your work group assignments in the next newsletter.

Think about the last lodge dinner you enjoyed. Someone planned the menu. Someone bought the groceries. Someone set up the tables, ran the kitchen, and cleaned up when it was over. Someone collected tickets, ran the bar, and made sure the room was ready.

That someone? It's our members. It's you.

Lodge 594 runs on volunteers. Every event, every meal, every service project - none of it happens without people willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. It's the most Moose thing there is.

Watch your next newsletter for work group assignments. Our work groups rotate responsibilities throughout the year, and the schedule will be published in the upcoming issue. If you're unsure which group you're in or want to take on more, reach out to a lodge officer - we can always use more hands.

Whether you've been volunteering for 30 years or you're brand new and wondering how to get involved, there's a place for you. Show up, say yes, and help make something great happen.

Thank you to every volunteer who makes Lodge 594 what it is.

Lodge 594's Murder Mystery Dinner drew a packed house and a great time was had by all. Here's a recap of the evening.

What a night! Last Friday's Murder Mystery Dinner was one of the most fun events Lodge 594 has hosted in recent memory, and the culprit was caught (though we won't spoil it here for those who missed it!).

The event was open to the public and we were thrilled to welcome both longtime members and brand-new faces to the lodge. Tables were full, the food was fantastic, and the performances by our mystery cast kept everyone guessing all night long.

By the numbers:

Over 60 attendees

Funds raised will be announced at our next Lodge meeting

Three suspects,only one guilty party

A huge thank you to everyone who organized, volunteered, and participated. Events like this are exactly what Lodge 594 is all about, bringing the River Falls community together and having a great time doing it.

Stay tuned for our next public event. Details coming soon on the Events page!

Every Moose member makes a difference. Here's a look at how your membership supports Mooseheart, Moosehaven, and communities like River Falls.

Sometimes it's easy to think of your Moose membership as just a card in your wallet. But the truth is, every single member makes a real difference.

Your dues help support:

Mooseheart Child City and School in Illinois, where children in need receive a safe home and quality education from pre-K through high school

Moosehaven in Florida, a premier retirement community for senior Moose members

Moose Charities, which funds community service projects nationwide

Local community service right here in River Falls through Lodge 594's own programs and events

Moose lodges across the country contributed over $75 million in community service last year. That's not just a number. That's real meals served, real children housed, real seniors cared for, and real communities strengthened.

When you renew your dues, sponsor a new member, or show up for a lodge event, you're part of something much bigger than yourself. Thank you for being a Moose.
