How it worked, for when it returns

Members could earn a free ticket by attending Lodge, Chapter, and Moose Legion meetings, or purchase tickets at the lodge anytime. On drawing night a card was pulled, and if it was the Queen of Hearts, the winner took the jackpot. You had to be present to win, and the pot grew each month until someone hit it.

Training is available online through TIPS at gettips.com. Once you complete it, the lodge will reimburse you for the cost of the training.

The Wisconsin On-Premise Alcohol Server course is a 4 hour program designed for servers at restaurants, bars and hotels, and it meets state alcohol seller and server training requirements. There is also a bundled option that adds food handler certification.

What it actually involves: pouring drinks, being friendly, and helping the night run smoothly. You are behind the bar with people you already know, at a place you already come to.

We could use a few handy people

We have a couple of projects that need finishing, inside and outside the building, before the fall weather sets in.

If you have handyman or handywoman skills and some time to give, give me a call and we will set up a work time that fits your schedule. It does not need to be a big commitment. A few people for a few hours gets most of it done.

This is the kind of thing that keeps the building in good shape without the lodge paying a contractor to do it, so every hand genuinely helps.

Lodge 594 member Mike Honsinger was recently presented with a Quilt of Valor - handmade, and given in honor and appreciation of his service to our country.

Alongside the quilt, the lodge presented a donation check for $150 to Quilts of Valor, to purchase material for the quilts they make.

Rather than assume we know why, we would like to ask.

The question on the table: what day of the week would work well for you to come to one monthly meeting for Chapter members? Under that idea, the Board would hold its own meeting on a Board afternoon, and there would be a single member meeting at a time that actually suits people.

Please come to the Lodge and let us know what would work. Your input is genuinely wanted here.

And while you are at it: if you have fresh ideas, a new member to bring in, or a fundraiser idea to help the Chapter or the Lodge, bring it to the Board in writing if you can, so it stays completely your own. If you have thoughts on how you would like to carry it out, or who you would need to help get it off the ground, let the Board know.

If the people you need are not Chapter members, invite them to join so you can have the best event ever.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a family-oriented fraternal and service organization founded in 1888. Its members raise money and volunteer time for causes close to home and across the country, most notably Mooseheart Child City & School, a residential community near Chicago that cares for and educates children in need, and Moosehaven, a retirement community in Florida for older members. Lodge 594 has been part of River Falls and the St. Croix Valley since 1944. Alongside the men's lodge, the Women of the Moose (WOTM) Chapter 1159 carries out much of the lodge's community and charitable work. What to Expect

The Official Visitor this year is Mark Penzkover, Chairman of the Board. The convention's Heart of the Community service project supports the Interfaith Food Pantry of Portage County.

• Rally Days in Monroe, WI. Sisters from around the state enjoy the sisterhood of the Moose, playing games, exchanging ideas, and catching up on news from Moose International. The Chapter will pay for your registration to attend.

July - Quilts of Valor

During the month of July we will be collecting cash for the local Chapter that makes the most amazing and beautiful quilts for Quilts of Valor. Their quilts are given to local service veterans in honor of their service to our country. We are planning to have one of their members come in and speak about what they do sometime in August - watch for a notice at the lodge or on Facebook.

August 9 - Walk to End Alzheimer's Brunch

Join us Sunday, August 9 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon for a Walk to End Alzheimer's Brunch ($15). Come eat a delicious array of breakfast foods and support a local group in our community.

Supplies needed at the Lodge: Scott one-ply toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, and dishwasher soap. Donations are always appreciated!

This event is open to the public, with adults, families, and kids all welcome for the fun. Please help us show our support to the community in one of two ways:

District 5 Meeting - May 16

The District 5 Meeting is coming up on Saturday, May 16 at 10:30 AM at the Eau Claire Moose Lodge. This is a great chance to connect with officers and members from lodges across our district.

Celebrate River Falls - Community Tent - June 7

On Saturday, June 7, Lodge 594 will be at Celebrate River Falls on Main Street with a community tent featuring games, prizes, and Moose information. It's a fun way to represent the lodge and meet future members.

Volunteer shifts still available:

FFA Safety Initiative

This month's Heart of Community collection is raising funds for the FFA Safety initiative - $16 per child, and our goal is to sponsor 10 kids ($160 total). If you'd like to contribute, drop a donation at the lodge. Every dollar goes directly to supporting local youth in agriculture and safety education.

Birthday Soda Cake Kits for the Food Pantry

Chapter 1159 Sisters are assembling Birthday Soda Cake kits to donate to the local food pantry. Each kit includes a disposable cake pan, cake mix, a can of soda (no eggs or oil needed!), frosting, and birthday candles - everything needed to bake a celebration cake. Bring your completed kit to the lodge on or before the chapter meeting (3rd Tuesday of the month) and it will be delivered to the pantry on Wednesday. Recipes are available at the lodge to help pair cake mixes with soda flavors. Packs of two pans are available to purchase at the lodge for $2.

Looking for a treat that gives back? Pick up a bag of Moose Magic Cookies for a $5 donation - handcrafted by Mei Mei's Cookie and Creamery. They're delicious, and every dollar supports Lodge 594's charitable mission. Ask about them at the bar!

Eighty-two years later, we're still here. Still serving. Still showing up.

Over those eight decades, Lodge 594 has hosted thousands of meals, raised money for Mooseheart and Moosehaven, supported local youth programs, and welcomed countless new members into the fold. The faces change, the officers rotate, the menus evolve - but the heart of it stays the same.

June 4 is our founding day. Stop in at the lodge that week to celebrate. Shake a hand, share a story, and take a moment to appreciate what 82 years of community looks like.

The Lodge is hosting a tent on Saturday, June 7 at Celebrate River Falls (formerly Taste of River Falls) to celebrate and show that the Moose are a part of this community. We will have 2 spots on Main Street from 12-4 PM with information about the Moose and some family fun at our space.

Birthday Cheer for Our Community

Chapter Sisters - let's spread some Birthday Cheer! We are making Birthday Soda Cake kits to donate to the local food pantry. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and select Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. All fitness levels are welcome, whether you're a seasoned dancer or just looking to get moving.

Save the Date: Dells Days 2026

Dells Days is coming! This annual gathering is a great opportunity to meet children from Mooseheart and connect with Moose members from across the state. Details and dates will be announced soon.

We'll have a full brunch spread plus a cake to mark the occasion. It's a great time to reflect on what the Moose has meant to communities like ours in River Falls for over a century.

The Fraternity of the Moose was founded in 1888, and since then it has grown to over a million members in 1,800+ lodges worldwide. From Mooseheart to Moosehaven, the mission of caring for those in need has never wavered.

Come enjoy the food, the fellowship, and the celebration. All members welcome!

The Moose-sponsored car will sport the familiar red and black colors at several races this season, including Darlington, Atlanta, Bristol, and Martinsville.

Chastain has been a great ambassador for the Moose, having earned a Cup Series victory at Talladega in 2022 while driving the Moose car. He's also known for his "Hail Melon" move at Martinsville that advanced him to the Championship 4.

2026 Moose Race Schedule:

• Darlington Raceway (Goodyear 400) - March 22
• Atlanta - July
• Bristol - September
• Martinsville - November

The evening starts at 5:30 PM with the Moose Legion and Chapter meal, Lodge Board at 6:30 PM, then the full Lodge meeting and Installation of Officers at 7:00 PM.

This is an important evening for the lodge as we welcome our new leadership team for the coming year. All members are encouraged to attend and bring a dish to share for the potluck.

Your lodge officers volunteer their time to keep Lodge 594 running strong. Come show your support and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Nine graduates will walk this year, each one a testament to the support that Moose members across the country provide through their membership and charitable contributions.

Mooseheart Child City and School has been providing a safe, nurturing home and quality education for children in need since 1913. Every member of the Loyal Order of Moose plays a part in making this possible.

All members are welcome to attend and celebrate these young people as they begin the next chapter of their lives. It's a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

District meetings are a great opportunity to connect with members from other lodges in our area, hear updates from the Wisconsin Moose Association, and share what Lodge 594 has been up to.

The event was open to the public and we were thrilled to welcome both longtime members and brand-new faces to the lodge. Tables were full, the food was fantastic, and the performances by our mystery cast kept everyone guessing all night long.
